PUrge Control Solenoid

Featured Replies

What is it? I mean, what's it do?

P.S. I'm throwing Code 23 (Air Flow Meter)...but the car runs..a little rough, at times... could it be the bad Purge Control?

The purge control solenoid, opens to allow gas vapor to enter the intake manifold from the charcoal canister. If I remember right it dose this at startup and the ECU closes the solenoid after the engine reaches a certain temperature.

If you are getting a code for the air flow meter then there is something not right with the airflow meter or the wiring.

the purge solnoid can purge it at any time other then idle, it uses your unburnet fuel HC's (hydrocarbons) and puts them back into your intake to be burnt, which bacically increaces your engine efficency/mpg
