Meeky Moose
alright, well if anyone is keeping track.. got the engine out, scrapdaddy and I tore it down, headgaskets looked ok although a couple spots between the cylinder and the water jacked were questionable.. also #4 piston was cleaner than the rest, so we figure classic blown headgasket.. well while scrapdaddy was cleanin up i was pokin around lookin at the block.. in #2 there is a hairline 1 inch long (what looks to be a crack) from the head mounting surface down the cylinder wall.. so its going to the machine shop tomorrow to verify its cracked.. if it is i might just get rid of the friggin car, i dunno yet.. depends on if i can find a used engine around thats in my price range.. I know i can't afford to drop a CCR motor in and would prolly take me 8 months to save up enough money to get one.. and teh car can't sit there that long without a motor, landlord would have a friggin cow.. hell he already is i imagine.. anyone got a 2.5 Dohc engine layin around? would prefer it to be already torn down or such.. hell i could prolly get by with a new shortblock if anyones got one of them.. i'm bettin my heads are OK.. Subarunation 713
snip..anyone got a 2.5 Dohc engine layin around? would prefer it to be already torn down or such.. hell i could prolly get by with a new shortblock if anyones got one of them.. i'm bettin my heads are OK..This place up in DC:http://www.aandrautoparts.com/ They have a 99 2.5 that was in a fire. They didn't have a price listed but it is probably a good long block at a decent. All of the other items are fine on you car I imagine. The ol 2.2 switch is also a great idea. BTW-you still got a DEAL on this car. Don't give up! Good luck, Greg
skeet
You just might be in luck. A buddy of mine is about to do a full sti swap into his 2.5 RS. He is trying to find a closed deck 2.5 JDM short, and then I'm getting his current 2.5 short. Which means MY 2.5 short will be unused. Did you catch all that? SO, as soon as he gets his short, I get mine, and you can theoreticly get yours. I'd sell it for whatever he sells me his for, and a little less even. I'll keep you posted. anyone got a 2.5 Dohc engine layin around? would prefer it to be already torn down or such.. hell i could prolly get by with a new shortblock if anyones got one of them.. i'm bettin my heads are OK..
