Axle angles?

Featured Replies

Anyone know the stock or maximum recomended angle for the axles on the classic EA81's?

I used my angle-o-meter and found my fronts at 12 -13 degrees

My rear axles were at 14 degrees.

Where I'm going with this is, I'm lowered all the way on my adjustments and have great clearance but :brow:

If i'm not going to stress the cv joints, I'd love to adjust them up :D

Thanks,

Glenn

Bump! :banghead:

I just adjusted my front all the way up and my axles are reading 14 degrees...

Anyone...

id expect since your rig is light weight, even tho you have no lift cranked in, you still have your more angle on it than we would with stock weight.

i cranked them all the way on my ea81, and it worked fine, till i put the er27 in there, then it twisted them apart, in couple days. thats the main reason i lifted it, to keep the axles damn near straight across. morganms rear is pretty much straight... but then its hard to visualize 14degrees being very much at all...

dont be so worried about it, just get out there and wheel! As long as you arent over extending the axles at full droop, you'll be fine. I would keep everything cranked down though, not for axle strength but to retain the ratio of up/down travel to keep as much useful flex as possible.

I measured a Stock 1984 Subie last night.

This is what I found on an unmodified wagon.

Front CV angles were at 13 degrees.

Struts not adjusted up.

The rear CV's were at 8 degrees.

Unknown adjustment status.

I'd guess it's raised.

Just a thought, the front outers have to be good for at least as far as the inside wheel turns, I'm bettin its a bit more than 14 Deg. I would think its the inner DOJ is the limiting factor.
