March 7, 200521 yr Just wondering if anyone would be able to answer a question for me. I have a 95 Impreza and just recently it stalled on me and the check engine light came on. It started, drove it home, put a scanner on it and trouble code P0340 came up. I know what the code means but I don't know if it's something I should take in or if it something as simple as a burned out fuse or relay that I could take care of.
March 8, 200521 yr that code is for your camshaft position sensor something you defo want to replace and i've never done this one so not sure how easy/hard it is to do.... hope this helps!!! jamie
March 8, 200521 yr Camshaft position sensor replacement: Unplug connector Remove bolt Remove sensor. Installation is the opposite of reverse.
March 8, 200521 yr The sensor is just behind the left camshaft timing belt cover (you can easily see it from above) and I think just in front of the oil fill tube. Standard procedure is to disconnect the sensor and remove it (just one bolt), then check the connection for oxydation and the sensor's resistance between its leads. You should get between 1K and 4K ohms.
March 8, 200521 yr This sensor was part of a recall by Subaru on the 95's. Check your VIN with the dealer, It may be covered. My 95 2.2 AWD had the recall. Todd
