Always carry a spare disty.

I have a spare one but I think it is from an N/A, and pre 87. so you think it was the disty?

I have not heard of the optical distys failing all that often..?

 

I had one fail about a year and a half ago. The car would run for a bit, then miss and stall and not restart for abotu 20 minutes. The ignitor was apparently overheating. 10 minute disty swap and it was all better.

 

So what happened Will?

Came into a NAPA parking lot...was running perfectly....came back out, woulnt start.

 

 

Then...after messing with things...it finally ran just as you described. Luckily I had two spares....but miles away.

I can only carry so many spare parts

exactly....i stopped carrying stuff like that after the coolant leak was fixed and the car was getting ~30 MPGs and driving perfectly....I only carried about...1~2 qts of Motul with me and the tool box.

I stop carrying anything and just got AAA. Saves me a lot of headache and I keep my hauling room. If I was gonna road trip I would take tools tho.

You could just tow a donor car around on a trailer everywhere you go...
