August 31, 200322 yr can you get a 2.2 in an outback? I have a 91 that gets a solid 25 mpg in town with the ac on full blast in Tucson , Az- I am not interested in getting 20 or 21 mpg, I can buy a diesel truck that will get that (just read some posts on outback mpg)
August 31, 200322 yr The only 2.2 OBWs were in 95 and maybe 96??? The Outback Sports had the 2.2 until 2000 or 2001 I think.
September 2, 200322 yr Is MPG the only issue? My 99 OBW gets between 26-30 and the AC doesn't seem to have any noticeable effect on mileage. That with an auto, BTW.
September 3, 200322 yr My 02 OBW with the 2.5 and automatic gets about 32 mpg on the highway. Those are Canadian gallons, which are larger than the American versions.
September 3, 200322 yr On my 2000 I get about 21 city / 28 highway. Its the AWD that causes the drop in MPG. If it were just straight FWD the MPG would be AOK.
September 3, 200322 yr See my latest figures that I posted here in this thread today, the MY03 Forester has the same running gear as an OB only difference is that the Forester is 33kgs lighter than the OB in Unladen Mass: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3310
