Featured Replies

Thought it was a goner , but the tick came back :{

Crap !!!!

just did my oil seal pump last weekend

and this weekend the tick came back at full force !!!

does that mean i'm gonna have to look at a new pump ??

and another question .......

what does a slipping clutch feel like ??

this is my first standard

and it feels kinda like it slips or skips or something

but only when you give it alot of gas

or try to punch it up hill

or something

seems worse in the morning

better after the car has warmed up

or something

any ideas ??

thanks in advance !!!!

Slipping clutch feels just like it sounds. If you are pushing on the gas, but don't feel the car accellerate like it should, its probably slipping. Its like taking two peices of sand paper and rubbing them together .... the more you rub, the less sand is left. When there is no sand left, there is no grab, so the two parts of paper just slip back and forth on each other. No friction. So when your clutch is slipping, there isn't enough material left for the clutch to make friction with, so I just spins without grabbing .... like driving your car on a sheet of ice ..... push down on the gas, the engine will rev, but wont move the car very far.

Instead of stepping on it when you think it's slipping, back off on the gas. Often if there's still a little life left, you may feel it take hold like a lockup clutch. And always feed gas to it gradually once it takes hold.
