running rich EA81 Hitachi Carb

Featured Replies

Just got it back from SMOG. good news is I dropped CO from 4.44 to 3.22 i the 15mph and from 3.94 to 3.06 in the 25mph. But I still failed :banghead:

Obviously I am running rich. I adjusted the fuel mixture screw ALL THE WAY IN and it's still rich.

questions:

1) shouldn't the engine shut off w/the fuel mixture screw all the way in?

2) what else would cause the carb to run rich.

Thanks

BW

The wrong fuel pump control unit box will tell your carb & pump the wrong things

I had the wrong FPCU on my buggy for a while. It ran... but it ran rich.

Just a thought...

where is the fuel pump control unit.

I did have to swap out my fuel pump b/c I died on me.

Another problem that my be related is that both of the duty solenoids are constantly on. I have yet to find someone that can tell me info about the duty solenoids and how they work.

(will check the air filter today after work)

S'ko,

Mine was bolted to the same bolt that the hood release latch is attacted with.

Should be a black or blue box 2" X 3" X 1". I had a big Mitsibishi logo on mine.

Has a six prong wire clip attached to it.
