Good to be on board.. Just curious about oil drain plugs. Any standard suggestions out here for home oil changers such as myself? Is Mobil1 the oil of choice here?? Lastly, anyone using aftermarket oil additives at all, e.g. Slick50, Prolong, etc.???

Madison WI here. Just use mobil 1, no additives. F1 cars don't use additives so I don't see a reason our subies need them. They also use mobil 1.

 

Anyway, one thing I'd upgrade to if you haven't already is a drain bolt with a magnet in it. It helps a little.

Or you could replace the plug with a Fumoto drain valve. Much neater, faster, and forget about stripped threads, plug torquing and washer replacement.

Welcome to the board. Just keep it changed regularly and you should have few problems. Watch the quality of filters you use.

I second the fumoto valve idea. One of the better investments I've ever made.
