as stated in earlier threads, always try to get the donor equip out of matching cars, example: auto/auto, 5sp/5sp, 4x4/4x4, etc. it doesnt matter too much but it helps A LOT. my 86 wagon had no probs with the 90 wagon SPFI that i installed. REMEMBER, GET ALL THE HARNESSES. engine, inner fender, COMPLETE dash harness. dont try to do the cut/rewire/fuses-here-and-there approach. if you get the complete harness you can plug everything in and be done with it. ive done two now. no probs with either of them. mine just doestn work with the cruise cause i dont think its all hooked up. heres my setup; car - 86 wagon/4x4/5sp/'89 turbo column w/cruise controls/'90 dash bezel and controls. SPFI donor car - 90 wagon/4x4/5sp/cruise/ac/trip comp. i converted the dash to the newer style so i did a little more converting. if you dont get the same harness the trans might not plug in like mine but that just tells you when youre in 4x4 pretty much so no biggie. also, dont forget to get the SFPI fuel pump, distributor and convert the fuel lines as stated in the SPFI tech write up. good luck.

wiring the dash and everything is for suckers, all you need is the engine to computer part.

id think your missing a ground somwhere, or your not puting power to the positive post on the coil.

do you have the starter wire hooked up? the fuel pump wont turn on till it sees a signal from the starter, or sees the disty turning.

good luck, sounds like your reel close.

yes i have the starter hooked up and on go i'll check the ground pins aging today I've got til next monday when my spring break is over i hope i can get i together by then i don't like driving the 80 sedan up and down my ant's rough driveway to collage or the 60 mile round trip thats 300 miles just to school and back each week adds up fast on a car with 70k on it

the conversion i done before was the whole wiring harness but my dad done most of it when i was gone to collage last year because of the wagon caught on fire and burnout must of the wiring under the dash while he was driving it if he was still live to help i would problely have it done now that i have been working on it for two weeks now so, thanks for any help you can give

oh that may help i am try to use the fuseable links box on the donor wiring harness could that be my problem it dose not say any thing about this in the conversion manual and all i stipped off the harness was the lights and fuse box could that be my problem

also, make sure your using the correct relays. theres two kinds of relays in these subarus. one that gives power when it gets power, and another kind that stops power when the relay gets power.

i use the first kind only

That's how I did mine - getting ONLY the computer part - taking it all is the easy and less adventurous way out - be sure you have a good connection from the starter, a good crank angle sensor, and a good computer - the ECM MUST ABSOLUTELY be grounded VERY well too - I mean the body (loosten a screw on the ECM case and wrap bare wire around it, tighten and connect the other end to the negative post on the battery) - if it is off an auto, consiter the safety interlock switch too
