comprising on tires

Featured Replies

I was wondering what is the best tires you can fit on a 13inch rim. I want good tires for off-roading but i don't want to spend the money for new rims.

Thanks

No one makes off road tires for 13in rim. So your best bet would be running some studdless winter tires. I run Pacemaker Snowtrackers. There are great on and off road. Awesome in gravel and pretty damn good in mud. What you need to do is get a lift of some kind and get a set of 14in pueguot rims, or get some toyota rims and get your hub drilled to six lug. Then with the 15in yota rim you can get any tire.

What you ask is rather counter-intuitive. Good offroad tires, 13" rims, and not a lot of money. One of the 3 is going to have to give and there in is your compromise.

As Dog noted above you have some choices. Get some good M+S rated tires for your 13". Upgrade to 14" or 15" Peugoet rims and have a real selection of tires at your fingertips. Those are two cheap choices.

I'm running a set of 'Walmart Special' Douglas X-trac M+S 185/80/13s on my hatch right now. They get me out of plenty of situations, but for real offroading you're going to want to go bigger.

Oh and they were $23 a piece when I got them.

It isn't THAT expensive. You can get white spoke wheels for about $30 each in the 15 inch 6 lug size, you can re drill the wheel yourself and some farm supply store mud tires for not much more than the 13s will run you. Some of the smaller sized Swampers and other brand named mudders are not that expensive.

thanks for the replys

I know that there is no real off-road tires for 13" rims, I just wanted to find tires like what you told me about. I will start looking around and hopefully i can find something. Are there any links you can give me to help?

Thanks

Fire stone TOwn and country mud and snows. they are by far the most agresive tires i have had on my 13 wheels. they are studable. (mine are) they are way better then the kumho mud terain tires that i had on 14s.

with a locked diff i was able to climb just about anything....
