why?

 

The last time the AC was used was about....5 months ago, and everything worked PERFECTLY and FLAWLESSLY. Then I unplugged the three connectors to the compressor so that it would not kick on and suck my MPGs over the winter months....

 

Now, time for AC to work again, I hook up the guages, and static wise, everything is perfect.

 

Hook it all up, push AC on...engine idle up....engine idle down. No AC clutch engage. I stright wire the connector at the relay. Nothing.

 

Then I wire straight to the positive terminal from the clutch...nothing. Not even a hint of spark or anything.

 

what gives? Whats the problem? ive never had this issue.

you checked it with an ohm meter right?

well if its infinite then its obviously broken

yeah my AC clutch has a defect as well..... it has no bearings left in it! I gotta find one before summer...

Many people disconnect there A/C during winter months, but they find out in the long run it ruins the A/C System, the A/C system needs to be run from time to time, to keep it operational.

The clutch wont engage if your refrigerant level is low. They do leak over time, so that may be your prob?

He said he tried jumping the compressor wiring to manually ingadge it which should of worked regardless of System Pressure since that bypasses the A/C Pressure Switch.

 

Most likly he lost the clutch unit/sender.

I assume you bypassed the pulse sensor - anyway, letting your A/C system sit unused for months on end is a very sure way to destroy it - it needs to be switched on, at least once a month - I know from an A/C specialist, and I think it is in my 1985 FSM suppliment

 

what compressor do you have? if it is panasonic, junk it and go hitachi - bigger, slightly heavier, but works 1000x better, and the compressor is rebuildable

 

fixing the A/C is high on my to-do list now too...

 

does anyone know about major R-134a compatibility issues?
