Brumby Boy Posted April 14, 2005 Share Posted April 14, 2005 hay tell me what you think, i want to build a performance engine to put in my brumby. ultimatly i would like a 500Kw EJ25 twin turbo but for now i want to build a performance N/A EA81 with the current motor i have to minamise fuss. this is what i have in mind. Boreing, stroking, full head porting and polishing, custom intake and exhaust manifolds, webber carb, titaunimun valves and heiver valve springs, stronger con rods and push rods. i'm hoping to get at least 120hp over the standard 60 - 70hp. so let me know what you think and im open to sugestions. and for thoese of you that are going to ask why an EA81 to thoes i say because i can and want to work on a push rod engine Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I love the EA81 engine, it is highly durable, with careful building and tuning this should be quite possible, I would also reccommend balancing the engine, smooth power and a few more rpm's, keep us posted!! Ratty2Austin Posted April 15, 2005 Share Posted April 15, 2005 save up a lot of money..... the people that I know that have done that same thing (about 150hp out of an ea81) spent big $$ to accomplish it.. not to mention a lot of accurate measuring and professional machining of parts... it would actually be cheaper and easier to cram an EJ22 out of a liberty wagon, and then you would have MPFI too! trust me.. i did the EJ22 swap on my previous 1980 GL wagon (look here! http://usmb.net/gallery/album292 ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ross Posted April 16, 2005 Share Posted April 16, 2005 you dont need to worry about things like con rods. They will be just fine unless your planning on running at over 9000-10000 rpm. As for boring, theres not much room for that. I think if your going to the trouble of making custom inlet and exhausts, you should get some heads from sub4. They are twin spark and have non siamese ports. Not too expensive just for the heads, and they are a New Zealand company so not too far from you.
