Replacing the O2 sensor

Featured Replies

Is it best to get the Oxygen Sensor from the Subaru Dealer (OEM) or should I get an aftermarket O2 sensor from an auto parts store?

i got mine from the dealer 129 bucks , you pay for what you get

i got mine through my sube mechanic, i dont remember what it cost, but i know its better than a dead one, cause it works...

Does anyone know where to buy an O2 sensor for a 1982 EA81?

My Subaru dealer and NAPA store can't locate one.

It seems that 1983 is the last year listed in the catalogs.

Thanks.

Any single wire O2 should work - get a Bosch - there like $29.00. Mine was bad (engine wouldn't even run with it connected), and I've had the Bosch in there for probably 8 months with no probs. If it went bad tommarow, for $29, I could buy 4 for the price the dealer wants. Silly if you ask me. I would NEVER pay the dealer price on something as universal as an O2.

Pull yours (engine will run without it), and take it in to make sure the threads match up to the one your buying. Also remember to use anti-sieze on the threads.... lots of it. If I could find the guy that installed the one I had to pull out of my car, I would strange them with my bare hands.....

I just did this for my 82 EA81........the first new Bosch (part #11027) was a dud and had NO warranty from Kragen....and they no longer stock the unit...$35 wasted..... :moon

I got the same unit ($45) from my Sube mech and worked fine...I guess these things are a crap shoot, consider your source...
