Two questions...

Hello, (new to this forum)

Question #1, I can not find a Haynes repair manual for our 2000 Outback. Amazon doesn't seem to have one either. Any suggestions?

Question #2, Once in a while, our 2000 Outback (85,000 miles) dies for just a second. If idling, it will quit. If driving down the road, it just seems like a "hickup". I purchased a fuel filter, but have not installed it yet. I am thinking that is the problem. Also, the last time it did it's hickup, the CEL came on. Is there some way of telling what caused the CEL to come on? Is there a gizmo I can purchase that can plug in and tell me?

About two months ago, I put in a K&N air filter, this couldn't be related could it?

Thanks for your help!

-Kev

as for the manual....you can get chiltons they are pretty good

they dont cover a specific year...they cover lots of years because the engines havent changed much...just find one that covers a 2.5 liter and you should be ok

About your hickup....fuel filter is a good idea....if the CEL is starting to come on that probabally means a sensor is starting to fail....ICV, MAF, O2....not sure which ones maybe one of the other guys could diagnose it specifically for you...

A Haynes or Chilton manual doesn't exist yet for anything past 99. I know cause I want one too. You can get the Subaru service manual for that year for about $200.

well you could get a pirated scanned one on ebay for cheap...service manual

But i didnt send you....;)
