Engine running....well, no MPGs!

How do the EJ's run with no t-stat in it?

The guage acts like there is no t-stat in it, it gets horrible gas mileage, and runs a little strange....hardly ever gets aboce the C mark...unless you sit for a while, then it climbs a little and then you drive...and it goes back down to C...hmmm...

I guess I need to pop it open and put in a new one even if there is one.

Its a 1996 Legacy Outback 2.5 Phase 1 (EJ25D DOHC) with an Auto.

I don't know the voltage specs, but you might want to check the connector and test the wiring as well - a new t-stat for me was about $16 from the stealership, but I'd but from Liberty subaru - 201.261.0900 - mention the USMB for our pricing

Will, you probably know this and

I'm not real sure about the EJ25 but the EJ22's

have the T-sat under the goose neck on the

lower

rad hose.

A lot of t-stats are fail safe models these days. When they go they stick open so you car doesn't overheat. I don't like them , they seem to fail much more often then the old style. Tha't exactly what happened on my Trooper when the t-stat failed .

i bet failed andstuck in the wtfo position... :)

u figure out wtfo hehe

Both are the same...the WRX and STi's are a teeny different on the waterpump end but basically the same.

Its got a t-stat in it. New OE one comming from SUBARU of Gwinnett in Atlanta monday.

sounds like that'd be perfect for off-roading in the heat-(no over heating most likely)
