May 24, 200520 yr anyone know if the key code on the door lock cylinders are visible without removing them? any hints are appreciated. (the dealer never recorded the key code in the computer system for one of my XT6's and i lost the only key when we were loading it on the tow dolly when i bought it, and the previous owner has no other keys). and none of my other subaru keys work in it (that's worked before, twice!). thanks.
May 24, 200520 yr It is on the early EA81s and EA82s; not sure about the XT6. You need to remove the inner door panel on the passenger side and with a flashlight and small inspection mirror you should be able to read the keycode. anyone know if the key code on the door lock cylinders are visible without removing them? any hints are appreciated. May 24, 200520 yr I'd get a small wire brush handy too. I was messing with mine over the weekend (already removed from the car). However due to the crud, dust and moisture build up, it's hard to see. I ended up using a wire brush to clean off the crud so it was visible again. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester (outside chance the dealer will have the key code on file in the database)
