May 26, 200520 yr The fan switch for my heater only works on 3 and 4. The first two do not seem to work. Any ideas? Michael Carey, KD7GHZ
May 26, 200520 yr Your blower motor resistor is bad. It slips into the bottom of the blower motor (behind/below the glove box) and is very easy to change. The dealer wants some astronomical amount, I usually just grab a handful from the junkyard and after a couple tries, end up with a good one.
May 26, 200520 yr sounds like a broken fan resistor pack. Skip outlines where it is and how to test it here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=282650&postcount=9 good luck
May 26, 200520 yr I just picked up a resistor pack from Autozone today for a 1986 GL. The price was $41. More than jy, but I know it will last for a long time.
May 26, 200520 yr Author Thanks, for the info. I will try and do it this weekend. I am not sure if Pull and Save is open on Monday or not. If not I will do it next weekend. Always find the help I need on the board here. Thanks, Michael, KD7GHZ
May 26, 200520 yr Just to be a little contrary, I have experienced a less-common failure: The fan switch itself going bad. One of ours only works on "2" and "4"... unless you press in on the knob/shaft and then they all work. Just a thought.
