Dr. RX Posted June 15, 2005 Share Posted June 15, 2005 Well, I don't believe it had anything to do with emissions. I have a 96 JDM WRX engine in my 96 Impreza. It is just as it came from Japan, and it is one of the best cars that I have ever run through emissions, it passed with plenty of room to spare. I simply think it was an example of not knowing the market. Subaru had turbo cars in the USA before the WRX, the last one being the Legacy Turbo (91 to 94), but apparently the sells were not convincing enough for them to bring the WRX to the USA.
