lathe work

Featured Replies

I need a part turned to bolt onto the flywheel end of an Ea 81 crankshaft,a shaft and two flanges 5 inches long in total and cut from solid 4 1/2inch aluminum round.I do not have equipment for accurate work.Someone with a lathe capable of mounting the crank ,to turn the whole piece could handle the job.I will provide the aluminum, and payment however you want it.You can send me a pm with a phone number.Im in Chicago but will travel a few hours or could ship the piece with drawings to someone who has a crankshaft on hand..Thanks in advance.

Did that, turned the piece to within one eighth of an inch and handed it off to a machine shop, gave them the flywheel teeth ring gear and it came back egg shaped. They had over cut the flywheel so that you could see daylight between the ringear and the disc making a heat and shrink fit impossible.I'm looking for a competent guy who probobly worked his years in a machine shop and now has his own at home and is willing to do a cash job.

You picked a bad machine shop, I hope you didn't pay them. If you were closer to me I could probably help you out, but you should be able to find someone local.

One note, I would get the parts (or assembly) balanced, a driveline shop should be able to handle it... maybe the machine work too.

Thank you for the replies even if I got no bites.Thought there might be someone out there who does flywheel work or similar. Looks like its back to the drawing board.
