Phaedras Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 I've been wondering if this has been the cause of my AC function being so erratic. The speed sensor has been moved several times to permit the changing of the accessory belts. Is there a standard distance this should be from the A/C pulley? How much does it affect operation? ausubaru92 Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 As far as i know it is a small coil which induces a voltage like a generator when the splines on the compressor pass it its possiable that it isnt close enough and not creating enough voltage its also possiable that a wire is broken in the sensor or wiring harness and only making intemittent contact Hope this helps Gannon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

All_talk Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 The one on mt RX has a hole in the bracket and a bump on the mount surface so that it can only fit in a fixed location. NorthWet Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 I have removed/replaced these sensors many times on several Subarus and have never had an issue caused by improper air gap.
