September 15, 200322 yr Well I just got home awhile ago. Long 3 hour drive back from shopping, over 10,000 ft mountain. Deer every where, driving slow at night. But it still happened, 2 doe's and a lil fawn ran out across the road and stopped right in the middle of my lane. So as I was slowing down and moving over into the on coming lane to go past them, those 3 deer decide to go back. Right infront of me. All I could do was slam on the brakes. With my wheels locked and tires sqealing. I am so glad that the wagon has 4 wheel disc brakes. Because I stoped only a few inches away from hitting them all. They just looked at us in the car, blinked there big brown eyes at us and slowly walked off into the forest. If it hadn't been for the 4 wheel disc brakes I am sure I would have totaled the wagon and us in it too. I could just see those 3 deer coming in through the windshield and nailing us in the front seats. As I have said to others I work with here ( SUBARUS RULE ) And I thank GOD we were all ok........
September 15, 200322 yr thats why alot of people say head straight for them, and dont swerve. deer have to be some of the stupidest damn animals. natures speedbumps that kill! disc brakes rule! and its funny to still see new production cars with drums in the back.
September 15, 200322 yr My mom hit a deer in her 98 2.5RS, It did almost three thousand dollars worth of damage to her car! I called my uncle, who drug it off and cut it up. Later, when I was eating a delicious veinison steak, I thought, MMM..... the beauty of all-wheel drive!
September 15, 200322 yr glad to hear everyone came out ok... and that the wagon is still serving you well
September 16, 200322 yr Originally posted by archemitis deer have to be some of the stupidest damn animals Nope, I guarantee you turkey's are more stupid . I have to, on occasion, get out and chase turkeys off my driveway. The Hella Supertones used to work to move them- the fact that a moving hunk of steel was coming right for them sure didn't
September 16, 200322 yr most animals don't seem to get the concept of being hit by objects. If everybody drove pickups with giant bumpers in the front I wonder how fast deerkind would evolve a fear of moving vehicles?
