July 26, 200520 yr I was wrenching on the 4wd shifter linkage and I hit the starter positive wire by accident. Cause a small spark, but then the engine wouldn't start. After about 15 mins of poking around found out that the fuel pump stopped working. I took the fuel pump and hotwired it, no go. Has this ever happened to anyone? BW
July 26, 200520 yr ... I took the fuel pump and hotwired it' date=' no go. ...[/quote']How did you hotwire it? My memory is fuzzy at the moment, but it seems that the ground is "switched" on the fuel pump. In other words, to test that the pump is working you MAY need to ensure both power and ground. There also seems to have been some question as to what wire color is power ansd what is ground.

I disconnected the harness for the fuel pump and took a wire from fuse box to one end of the connection and then took another wire and grounded it. Fuel pump didn't turn on. I will look into the relay in my electrical schematics. I do have a spare fuel pump lying around I can always test the connections with that before I swap it out. Thanks for the input. bw
July 26, 200520 yr Your fuel pump runs off that #$%@ black box located by the hood release handle. That is where you need to start looking. Mine fried for no apparent reason a week after I got "Summer" running.
