oops 10w40 oil ?'s

Featured Replies

hey guys and gals

I changed my oil today and I bought what I thought was 10w30 oil, but after I changed my oil and went for a short drive I looked at the empty oil bottles and saw that I had bought 10w40 oil. The engine seems to run fine but will it work all right? or should I change it right away or at a sooner interval? any oil advice would be great!

thanks

kevin

Very little real world difference, and the higher hot-viscosity rating is proably just as well for the summer. Lots of people even run 20w50.

screw the cap on real tight, and don't peak....

if you can't see it, it's not there....

or keep two half bottles of 10-30 under the hood (just split one between two bottles) and just pretend those are "left overs" from the oil change and the oil fill.
