August 2, 200520 yr The other day, I took my Loyale in for its first oil change since I bought it a month ago. I could do it myself, but it's just a mess I'd rather not deal with. I'd rather spend $20 - $30 and read a book for 20 minutes while someone else does it. Anyway... I started to notice the smell of burnt oil now and then after driving it since the oil change. I checked the dipstick today to see if I was losing oil, and it's actually overfilled, maybe a quarter inch above the "F" on the dipstick. Does anyone know if having a little too much oil could cause the burnt smell? Can it cause any damage?
August 2, 200520 yr When I bought my Loyale it was overfilled. It caused a massive cloud of smoke from the tailpipe on the highway. Get the oil out ASAP, i believe overfilling like that can damage your engine..
August 2, 200520 yr It's quite typical for thise insta-lube joints to over fill yoru oil. Either drain a quart out yourself or take it back ASAP and tell them to fix their mistake.
August 2, 200520 yr a few times i have gotton oil onto the exhaust after changing the oil, if it is 4wd i always remove the skid plate first , quick lube places may not , munch easier to get to drain plug + less messy
