Impreza 2.5 rs vs. Outback sport

Featured Replies

Looks to me like the only difference is the suspension. Outback says heavy duty raised. Impresa says sport tuned or something. Anybody know anything?

I'm specifically concerned with the 2005 models.

Thanks,

The OBS is .8 inches higher.

I think the RS has a little larger rear sway bar.

Why not just visit the official website and get the exact specs? http://www.subaru.com

Cause I can't find them there. I found that comparison page with the outside dimensions. You think that height difference is in suspension or trim?

So you think that the sport suspension is just a different sway bay?

Ground clearance (raised suspension).

In a nutshell, the RS is geared toward sportier handling than the OBS, but I don't know the specifics. I made some changes to the suspension my '02 OBS to tighten up the handling, but I still retain the extra ground clearance for the Michigan winter.

There's a lot more performance-oriented talk at those locations.

The OB Sport Special Edition is the best deal in a 2005 Impreza. The rebate on the OB Sport is higher and the extra $500 for the Special Edition package is definitely worth it. That said, when our 2005 OB Sport SE was totalled I was going to buy another one, but I made the mistake of driving a WRX Sport Wagon and I couldn't go back. The WRX engine is smoother, quieter and obviously more powerful, the clutch is better, and the handling is better - it's just a nicer car to drive.

OK - this is a rumor OK, I heard that the RS may be dropped if the TR sells well. That may mean an RS would be a 'collectors' item someday. This comes from some SOJ guys through another source.

Not sure if anyone cares - just FYI (some of the other rumors were interesting too. - like a 2 door STI)
