When braking legacy pulls to right..

Featured Replies

Today I did some rather rough driving on my 92' Legacy, and now when I brake, the car pulls itself to the right, causing me to have to turn left in order to stop straight.. Another thing is when I push the accelerator, the steering wheel seems to slightly turn right, in order for the car to drive straight.. When I am no longer pushing the accelerator, the steering wheel then goes straight again, as the car does too. If I am at a stop light, and let off the brake, there is a clunking kind of noise. I am sure this could be a possibility of things, but I really need to get this checked out soon, and was wondering if anyone on here possibly had any suggestions.

Thanks alot

Hi,

Off-hand, it sounds like you have cracked a suspension member or damaged a suspension bushing. When you brake, the control arms on the right side allow the right wheel to "steer" outwards, which is normally controlled by the geometry.

When accelerating, the same thing happens, only, the opposite way. Hopefully, you haven't cracked the top strut mount. Either way, get it checked sooner rather than later.

Regards,

Adnan

Hey, that sounds like what mine is doing. I thought it may be the uneven roads we have here in Maine, but I guess I need to check out some suspension.

Yeah, I got looking at it today, looks like the passanger side lower control arm rusted through.. Crap..Any idea where I could buy one of these, and how much it will cost?

Thanks

Can't get it alligned until I get the new part on, because the wheel could just fall. I am suprised I went as many miles as I did without messing anything else up. The entire lower control arm was rusted right through. It must have been just hanging by a thread, thank God it broke on a dirt road, other than the usual highway driving I do, or else I most likely would not have a car right now... Or be looking at a bigger bill. I payed 45 dollars for a used one that is in great shape, and I will install it this weekend. Thanks
