rockdork
I have a 1991 Loyale with a "check engine" light that recently came on. So I preceeded to give her a tune-up and discovered that the distributer cap was a wreck. I figure that was likely the cause of the "Check engine" light, but in order to test this hypothesis I need to find out how to reset the warning light. Any ideas? Cougar
A bad disty cap won't cause a error code. You should be able to look at the ECU a view the LED. Count the flashes to determine what codes are set. Two long flashes followed by a short one would be code 21.
VorpalBunny
My 1990 Loyale is getting 5 quick flashes for a code. Any ideas?
Cougar
That is normal. I think that means you have a manual transmission.
VorpalBunny
Thanks Cougar, My Check Engine light has been on for a while. Just read another thread, so the white and green connectors should be diconnected?
VorpalBunny
Disconnected both the white and green, now getting a 34 code (EGR solenoid or circuit). I thought these wires had to be connected to get the codes?
Cougar
No, they don't need to be connected.
