I have a 2000 Outback (91,000 miles) with a PO325 Knock Sensor Code. I changed my spark plugs, ingintion wires and PCV at 75,000 mile with Subaru parts. What are my next steps. If I need to order a new sensor what is the part number? What are the instructions to change it?

What motor is it? I know the knock sensor on my 99 2.2l isunder the drivers side intake manifold. It is held in place with one bolt and takes 5 min to change. Not sure on a 2.5l. I had mine fail a couple of years ago. Sorry i don't have a part #.

Here is what the code definition is: Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor) .

 

You do need check the wiring to the sensor for a connection problem and probably replace the sensor. This is a dealer only item. They will know the right one you need from the year of the car. When installing a new one, do not over torque it.

Thanks for all your advice. I went to the Subaru deal and was able to get a "Sen Assy-Knock" #22060aa070 for $95. I found it on the drivers side by the maninfold. It took me about 10 minutes to install after the engine cooled down.

I think my knock sensor was $22 at Autozone. It took about 3 minutes to install.

Help! I have a 99 legacy L wagon (2.2l 5sp manual) and the CEL is on w/acocmpanying noise that is new.

 

Took it to mechanic who said it's the PO325 Knock Sensor Code - sent me to dealer. Dealer said it's d/t timing belt tensioner and wanted to charge me about a grand to fix it. Took it back to my mechanic who changed the timing belt and tensioner (for 1/3 the price) but didn't replace the sensor - b/c the engine noise wasn't fixed (but had improved).

 

My mech recommends either selling the vehicle OR having a new (to me) engine put it.

 

Any thoughts?? Thanks

To me this code indicates a problem with the sensor or the wiring to the sensor. If the wiring to it is ok then I think you should replace the sensor.
