4wd pushbutton 5 spd

Featured Replies

I'm trying to stuff a pb 4wd 5pd trannie into a twagon I have. Can I run 2 wires from the connector coming from stick shift to the 2 vac. sol.'s under the hood. I've got 4wd light sorted out, I just need to figure out how to actuate the sol.'s

Should be 3 wires on the stick for the pushbutton. 1 power in, 2 power out. Those run to the hot side of the solenoids, then just ground the black wires off the solenoids and you're good to go.

thanks! I searched but couldn't confirm this.

in a sort of related question, my 4wd light doesn't go on when I hit the button, it's not the fuse, have a digi dash, any ideas, thanks

look up iluvdirt as he wired up the mechanism for a pushbutton 5spd using 2 toggle switches, for lack of a dp/dt switch

Just wondering, but can the pushbotton be converted to a lever shift? I haven't had any problems with mine engaging, but I just don't like pushing a bottun to engage the 4wd.

I would have to find a d/r tranny around here, which is easier said than done in this neck of the woods, and I can't afford to have one shiped.

A cable shift setup would be easiest, thats what the vacuum actuator moves to shift the tranny. take a look under the car, the actuator is on the left of the tranny with a cable leading to the right of the tranny.
