August 25, 200520 yr i was talkin to a guy who said he stuck larger jets in his carburetor on some chevy big block, and he now runs e85, i think thats what it is. 85percent ethanol stuff. its alot cheaper than gas and has alot less emissions. i got this ea81 with a weber, and im thinkin about givin it a try. 100-105 octane anybody do this yet?
August 25, 200520 yr You're gonna have to replace all the rubber hoses, O-rings and anything plastic to a ethanol safe material. but other than that sounds like a good idea OTOH, ethanol has less energy density, a gallon of ethanol will only get you about half as far as a gallon of gasoline.
August 29, 200520 yr Sounds like fun.I am looking for the highest cr for ea81 pistons I can find and then do something like that.Modified intake manifold from ea82 cut down to fit the shaved heads as well as a really ratty cam(for low to mid thumpin').Let me know what you decide to do would be a neat project.
