i found a cheap 99 forester that needs a transmission, but the only local trans i can find is out of a 99 outback.they are both automatics.would the outback tranny bolt up the same?any info is appreciated

it will bolt up. the only diff might be the rear diff ratio. Get that from the doaner too and you should be good to go.

i did also find a 02 forester tranny, but it is listed as being different from a 99????

I think the 02 is a 4.11 and the other is a 4.44 ratio... don't hold me to this though.

Out of curiosity, how much did the replacement transmission/diff set you back? My '99 Forester has the hesiation issue, which has gotten better with more regular fluid/filter changes, but one day, I'll be looking! I'm still debating whether to dump it or fix it.

it was a 2000 with the s package for $1800, but i waited too long.i bet harry`s wouldn`t charge more than $120 dollars for everything, but you would have to pull it yourself.take care,
