August 29, 200520 yr The Y-pipe is sitting in my garage, and I had to take the Subaru out for a quick spin to get gas (rumors of a $3.50/gal spike, I needed gas anyway - it didn't happen, but I've got enough gas to last for the better part of the month now). Wow. It sounds like crap, and runs about the same. Very "blatty", no low end torque at all... I don't suggest it. -=Russ=-
August 30, 200520 yr I had the same thing. I drove it like that for a while waiting for the y to come in. I went from about 20 mpgs to 29 mpg once I installed it. Plus the POWER! It was like driving a race car once I put it in! Once I put it in, it must have done 0 to 60 in like 3.2 ...minutes!
August 30, 200520 yr you can damage the motor driving it like that. anyone reading this thread should avoid doing this.
August 30, 200520 yr Author I only drove it a mile or so like that, mostly with the clutch in, so I wasn't too worried. But, I can't imagine it's good for the engine, with shock cooling the exhaust valves & such. -=Russ=-
