September 7, 200520 yr As I found out, the Subaru door trim is in fact NOT all rubber, and has a thin metal piece running along the inside of it. This thin piece of metal is super easy to bend, and once bent, can almost never be straightened. How in the world do I pull the trim off my doors without bending the **** out of it? This is a 3-door, so the strips are even longer and therefore harder to remove.
September 7, 200520 yr Pretty sure body shops use a special little tool for this. Gets behind the trim and you use it to pop out the plastic rivits holding it to the body.
September 7, 200520 yr I've always just used a panel popper to pull the plastic clips away from the body. Seems to work pretty well.
September 7, 200520 yr ive always removed the inner door pannel and undone the clips from that way. thats the way to do it so you dont break the clips.
September 7, 200520 yr When I took the trim off my wagon, I easily pried the trim from he clips, then used an exacto knife or razor blade to pop the plastic peices out. You should be able to get one side tab of the plastic part out, then just use the razor to push the other tab in and it pops right out.
