Kool thread! I wanna put a 5 speed box in my 1982 Leone.

 

Ok, read link from above post. But I think the stub axels have a different spline count. Mine is 23 and 5 speed box is 25... i think?

 

How do you get round this problem? Can the stub axels be swapped?

Only the 5 speeds that came in turbo cars had 25 splines - find one off a non turbo and your away laughing. I'm chucking a 5 speed in my wagon when i get that ea81t ready to go in.

Yeah, your right I have already got a 5 speed in my Leone. But had no idea how it was done. Guess I know now. The non-turbo gearboxes would be leaker tho, right? Are the ratios the same?

If you mean "weaker" then no, i think most of the gearbox is the same. I think they may use a different final drive ratio??
