Dashlights wont go off

Featured Replies

I just bought a 95 Impreza today. Now tonight, I am seeing the dashlights will not go off. Even with the key out of the ignition switch. Whats going on? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Doug

all the lights on the dash or just the ones on the instrument panel?

not to knowledgable with imprezas but on the switch for the hd/lights,i know on some cars i've owned there's a seperate switch for the dash lights.

(so you can light up the dash without putting the hd/lights or other outter lights on)

Went and looked... its the dash lights, the radio lights and the heater control lights.

Check on top of your steering wheel column and see if the park light switch got bumped on. Did you clean on it today.

Whats the fuse for those lights? I cant find it in the manual.

Sounds like there may be either a short someplace back feeding the circuit, or the light controller or amplifier (it must have something like that) is bad. The little wires in the stalk cant carry all the current to control the lights, so it feeds some little black box, which actually control the lights.

i can't find my manual,it's somewhere.

on the back of the fuse panel box, there's usually a decal showing which fuse is what.

The taillight/illumination relay might be bad. The primary circuit is always hot, so if the relay is stuck, the lights will be on.
