jowens
We have a 1990 Legacy Wagon. The AC compressor clutch fails to stay energized. It energizes only at random. We've replaced the mode control panel and also replaced the accumulator sensor. When the clutch is energized, it does put out cold air. It has occasional rapid engagement and disengagement of the clutch and occasional rare and infrequent engagement of the clutch. We are at our wits end trying to figure out what is wrong with it. Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated. We are 100 miles from any Subara dealers so trying to figure it out ourselves. Sure would like to find out something today as we are going to try to work on it again this weekend. Thanks in advance. jowens
avk
When the clutch fails to engage, does it still have power? If yes, it's either a bad (intermittently open) coil, or a gap out of adjustment. Both things can be corrected w/o removing the compressor. Legacy777
Has the system's refrigerent charge been checked to make sure it's not over or under charged?
SUBARU3
Yea Josh, it might be the pressure cutoff switch.
