I had a 1987 Nissan Sentra once that was manufactured in 1986. It's a bit confusing, is there a cut and dried answer to these dates? Starting in 1980 the 10th digit was an "A" and moves up the Alphabet each year. Your 87 should have an "H" in the 10th spot unless of course it's really an 86 in which case it would be a "G".
