I have an ER27 that I have all apart. but I can't seem to divorce the block to get to the crank. Is their a trick or do I need a big f-ing hammer? I'm a bit nervous about pounding on an aluminium block. Any one have advise?

Use a rubber mallet and pull.nipper

AWSOME I had the same problem!!! Look in the oil ports there are 2 hiding inside very very sneaky!!! Once you get them out the engine will fall apart! It took me about almost a month of PURE FRUSTRATION AND ANGER to get it apart. The one day I looked at all the pictures I took while taking the engine apart and I saw the bolts in the pic. I ran frantically to the engine in the frigid cold and POOF there they where stairing me in the face. Made myself feel like a dumb rump roast! Make sure you use a rubber mallet or a piece of wood ie 2x4 and tap it with a hammer. Should be easy.
