October 15, 200520 yr This is what I got going on I'm looking at an 85 Subaru Gl wagon with 4wd. Its got a bad engine in it, then I found a 88 Subaru 2wd for sale that is wrecked but has an engine in it with under 60K on it but its fuel injected not carborated. Is it possiable to put this fuel injected engine into this other 85 Subaru? If it is how hard is it to do? thanks
October 16, 200520 yr What he said- swap the intake manifold complete, as well as the distributor. Problem solved.
October 17, 200520 yr Author Let me get this right, I take the intake of the fuel injected engine and replace that with the carb off the bad engine. Then do the same with distributer. Right? I was wanting to convert it to Fuel injection because I hear it make a big difference in power and fuel econ. But I've seen other posting and it seems like it's a lot of work.
October 25, 200520 yr just throw in the EFI motor, it has less miles and a higher compression ratio, not to mention about 10 HP. no swapping of distys or intakes, it bolts right up, you just need the computer and harness to make it run. more in depth, but better in the long run. ~Josh~
October 25, 200520 yr It's really not that hard to swap over to SPFI. A good bit of wiring, but if you've got a complete donor car, it's not that bad. The conversion manual is located here, and it should help you decide if it's something you want to do. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=61
