My son has a '84 1600 DL and the engine code is flashing 13 when it stalls or won't start. I believe a code 13 is the crank angle sensor, does anyone know where this is on the engine? It's not in the Haynes manual (shocking). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's inside the distributer, little wheel with slots in it that a laser reads to see when to have the coil fire. I got mud on mine, and it wouldn't start.

 

pull off the cap, gasket(s), and rotor, and you should see a couple little screw on the top, this pulls of a little plate, and it's under there. I did it with the disty out of the car, but you can do it with it in too.

I think you may be looking for the pickup loop in the bottom of the distributor.
