2.2 Timing belt break-in??

Featured Replies

After a fresh timing belt installation on a 2.2, is it normal for them to break-in a bit. I noticed some wear on the edge of the belt and some "belt fiber-dust" in the freshly cleaned timing belt cover.

Thanks!

I'm really not an authority on the EJ22, but what you're describing sounds OK to me. As long as there isn't a ton of wear or dust, or any weird noises, it should be normal.

Is there any noticeable noises?

I would imagine the belt would break in some. Typical of any moving part, really.
