camcool
I did a search for clutch issues but didn't find anything that describes what I am seeing. 1998 Outback 2.5, manual. I just replaced head gasket and put in a new clutch, as well. When I finished everything last night, I noticed that the clutch pedal goes straight to the floor, does not engage the clutch at all. The plunger from the slave cyl does move, but only slightly when the clutch pedal is pushed to the floor. The pedal can be pushed almost to the floor with little or no effort. Air in the hydraulics? Nothing was changed from before so I don't know how air would get inside there. Bad slave/master (the "clutch sticking" problem)? Plates installed backwards? Any similar experiences/advice out there? Thanks, Rob motorcycles are easier
nipper
did you replace the clips that hold the throw out bearing? Bleed the hydraulic clutch just to rule it out. COuld be a bad slave cylinder. But first make sure everythnig is still attached the way its supposed to be. nipper
jokermtb
my 98 legacy gt, seems to eat slave cylinders every 20k - this problem started around 90k and I have almost 130 k....and right now my car is in the shop to probably get yet another slave put on today!!!! Yay! I still like the car, but come on! a slave should last longer than 20k!
