What kind of fluids....

Featured Replies

for a '79 DL front wheel drive

Auto 3 speed trans?

Front diff?

Brakes?

or anything else you can think of.

Will just standard fluids do?

I want to change the fluids (or put some in), but don't know if any take speciality fluids.

Thanks

No owner's manual to refer to?

Tranny-Dexron-the red stuff.

Front dif.-I've used Castrol,Quaker State,etc.....depends on your temperature.For you,I guess 85W,check around at the auto parts store,etc...

Brakes-same deal,I've used the better of the common brands.Never use Walmart B/S,NEVER!!!

I'd say you don't need any "special" fluids.

I'll bring this thread back from the dead lol

What type of gear oil does the manual trans take in a 73 gl fwd? I guess the better question is what kind of synchros it has. Are the a soft metal like brass? Would Redline MT90 synthetic work?
