Picked up a turbo today off an 87 XT at the junkyard. Saw it, so I thought I would grab it. How do I tell if it's any good? It's a little rusty on the outside, but it spins freely. Also the car has a set of mag aluminum wheels on it, how much would be a reasonable price to pay for the set? Thanks

If the shaft spins freely with very little play, and if there's not any oil in either housing, it should be fine.

 

 

I don't know about form a JY, but where I live, a set of aluminum Subaru rims is probably worth $100 in good shape.

got some rusty wagon wheels for 30 bucks, all four. in the process of cleaning up and painting them but i need a wire wheel.

dont know the price on aluminum wheels though. i got 4 for 80 at a jy, but they were for a grand am. not exactly a rare car. or a subaru.
