  1. i've always liked your coupe and how clean it was. makes me miss my old hatch. ea81 cars don't last in my region. rust killed my hatch and would have killed my loyale if i didn't intervene...... nice enkies. like everyone else said, they are a perfect match for that car.
  2. i used to do that with old ford sedans and stuff.... my parents bought 20 acres in the country and it used to be a blast.
  3. the same thing happened to me, except the punch never broke. there was no way i was pulling it out though, so i rotated it 180 degrees and pounded the thing out with a bfh and a slightly larger punch. i used a bit of penetrating oil just because, i don't think it helped any.
  4. that's what i want my future hatch to look like... big, but not too big.
  5. my hatch broke several times.... both front axles went (was a fwd), then the water pump went, then some fool drove into the front of it at my college parking lot. insurance took care of that, i bought the car back from them, then proceeded to drive it into a light pole right after i fixed all the front end damage. oh well, that was quite a few years ago now......... the only other thing that's broken on any sube i've ever owned were wheel bearings.
  6. man that thing looks like fun. good work on the build.
  7. and this is why i love usmb....... thanks skip, you just saved me a few hours of searching. i'm having the same problem.
  8. my first sube was an 88 hatchback 2wd AT...it was great in the snow. now i have a loyale with snow tires and don't even need the 4wd. good to have, but around these parts we get snow maybe three times a year.
  9. they look kinda like motion alloys but black.
  10. that rust looks pretty intimidating but you could definately fix it. i didn't give up on my loyale when a rock came up thru the floorboards, all the secret compartments in the back filled with water, the newly done bodywork started falling apart, the exhaust fell off in three peices, a rear brake locked up and then blew a line, mold started growing (tilex with bleach works), and now there's exhaust in the radiator. i understand and feel your pain. don't worry, it is but a scratch.
  11. the hardest part in removing the intake on my loyale was removing all of the old crusty vacuum lines from a very very neglected motor. haven't had the bolts snap off on me so i can't offer you anything in terms of advice there. i didn't drain the rad and coolant (a bit) did leak out.
  12. there was a fram on the parts loyale i bought and the guts of the filter blew into the engine, giving it a really bad knock. frams are junk certainly.
  13. thanks skip, i've been putting this fix off for quite some time...now it looks like i have no excuse. seriously though, having only high fan speed sucks. thanks again.
  14. good job. i know how that feels, having learned everything i know about fixing cars on my last 2 subes. i like the feeling of accomplishment.
  15. i never thought about my bump stops till i read this thread, and when i went to see if my loyale still has them, turns out it doesn't. i haven't had a problem bottoming out before, even with stock everything. my shocks are brand spanking new though.
  16. on my hatch the bearings fell out when i did the rear brakes. i just sprayed em off with brake cleaner and regreased them when they were ready to go back on. i think you may need a new wheel cylinder. not to worry though, they're relatively cheap. yeah, you have to start the car to bleed the brakes. do them in opposite corners too, like right front, left rear, left front, right rear. hope any of this helps.
  17. i've serviced the brakes on my hatch and my loyale. the rear brakes are easy unless the drums are stuck on the axles. whoever worked on them before i did probably didn't grease the splines on the rear axle and i can't get the drum off. pullers are pretty expensive too. hopefully yours come apart ok.
  18. could have cracked the heads near the exhaust ports. i did on mine and am still driving it. just keep an eye on the coolant level and top it off until you can get around to replacing the heads. or it could be something else entirely.
  19. i get the 4wd low rumble/clunk in my beater loyale, but it has smaller tires in the front.
  20. i had that sound in one of my loyales..... it needed more of a fix than a flush. the drivers side head was cracked and leaking into the exhaust. the radator held pressure and i would often hear a rushing water sound on start up (and when i turned off the car too). that was on an ea82 though.
  21. last time i just used rustoleum on my wagon wheels. i got tired of black though and got them powdercoated white. now they look like they're new.
  22. i thought he meant tmic, but it could mean a number of things come to think of it. i have never been pulled over, but i've only been driving 5 years. fingers crossed.
  23. very nice pics. i think the guy just wanted a citroen so he got the front grille from one. i'd rather have a sube.
  24. yep. that's the diff vent. i recall asking this question a while back after finding one on my hatch.
  25. damn cool yota. bet its great fun to drive. im looking for a 2wd as a backup/parts runner for when im not driving the sube.
