  1. go here. it will start you off in the right direction. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980
  2. 185/70/13 or find 4 lug rims from a peugeot, as they come in 14 and 15 inch flavours.
  3. there is tons of info on this subject as the auto to manual swap is common. do a search and you will find what you need.
  4. as does my hatch. it's quite useless, unless you want your rear window wiped, of course.
  5. a friend of mine had an 88 gl wagon with around 800 000. original everything.
  6. thirded. a convertible sube would be sweet, especially one that could be had without the aid of a sawzall.
  7. the same thing happened to me. i took the ig switch out and started it with a screwdriver for about a month. now i have a button hidden away and two toggle switches for accessory and on. works like a charm.
  8. my hatch is about 800 per year.. i live in canada though.
  9. i lost my only key but wrote the code in the manual luckily...cost me 15 bucks but a locksmith cut me a few keys that worked.
  10. i like the guages on the windshield post or whatever that thing is called. looks sharp.
  11. i have a 3AT and absolutely hate it. leaks from everywhere, doesn't shift properly or smoothly regardless of how much/little/clean fluid is in it. checked the gov. gear, was fine. i am now trying to kill it so i have an excuse to toss a 4sp d/r in there. i like the feeling of controlling my tranny as well as my engine.
  12. last time, i used needlenose pliers. didn't work all that great, but it got the job done.
  13. it's entirely possible, you just need a d/r tranny (5 speed, not a 4 speed - that would be for an ea81.) there are plenty of threads on this topic, do a search and you will find all kinds of helpful info.
  14. i have the exact same problem, only it all started after jumpstarting a p.o.s. mazda pickup. my voltmeter rises and falls with engine rpm, with all the lights off (headlights and markers) the stoplamp, brake fluid, and volt lights are ever so slightly on. as soon as i turn something on that draws current like the blower fan or the headlights, everything goes back to normal. oh, and when the headlights are on, and i crank the fan to max, the lights dim a bit. kinda like when i put several large subwoofers into an 1987 pontiac grand am, everytime the bass would thump, the lights would dim. check all your grounds too, i found a disconnected one, but when i connected it nothing happened.
  15. all i did was unbolt the lower control arm, and loosen the strut mounting bolts. that gave me just enough play to slide the doj off the stub with a little persuasion.
  16. i wouldn't worry about the water issue, mine loses some and i top the rad off once every few weeks. the lower hose fitting on the rad leaks, no time to fix or replace at the moment. i would, however, fix the intake issue.
  17. haha, cool. i know a few people who would go nuts if they saw this thing.
  18. a few vacuum lines need to be plugged. if the 2wd was an AT, there are a few vacuum hoses that need to be disconnected. other then that, i think they're the same.
  19. it's pretty easy to change a headgasket on an ea81. retourque could help, but it could make it leak worse too.
  20. i'd definately check the wires. spark plug gap, too. mine ran like crap when i forgot to gap new plugs once.
  21. i'm starting a project on a hatch in may. right now my hatch is my dd, soon though it's gonna be a 4x4. got the trans and all the rear end parts, just need a driveshaft and shop to work in. that or the weather needs to clear up a whole bunch. also i'm switching from AT to 4spd at the same time, not quite sure what to expect.
  22. that xt6 is cool. whos green lifted gen1 wagon is that?
