  1. not to say you overlooked the obvious, but is your fluid at the right level? too little and bang, no shift into 3rd. happened with mine, actually it started to slip until i realized how little fluid i had. it might also help to know what kind of car you have.
  2. one time i had an 88 gl wagon, had six engines in it...looked a little like that one.
  3. my hatch got ran into, didnt look quite as bad as the flipped blue one. i flipped a grand am once and a half times from hitting a ditch sideways. car still drove fine and was surprisingly unscathed. there was about 8 pounds of dirt in the front tire though.
  4. i fully agree. i went up in the mountains today, fresh snow up there, and mine's 2wd. never slipped at all. these cars are good stuff.
  5. ea81? i can take a picture of my vacuum diagram under my hood, i have a hitachi.
  6. i think i have one on my carb'd ea81 88 gl hatch. there's a wire going into some sort of fitting on the cat. do some years have them and some not?
  7. get the rx! they're tough to find round these parts.
  8. my 88 hatch has no door speakers, had to cut the hole in the panel. also, the only speakers stock for the car was a d-side dash speaker and a couple 5" speakers in the hatch area. those are gone, i built 6x9's into the pockets on either side of the back seat. also put a sub in the back.
  9. that and they wear in the middle a bit quicker. mine are more worn in the middle than on the sides, but it's nothing major.
  10. shouldn't take you an entire weekend to do the axles, took me probably four hours the first time i did it. its a snap, unless you cant get your axle off.
  11. got some rusty wagon wheels for 30 bucks, all four. in the process of cleaning up and painting them but i need a wire wheel. dont know the price on aluminum wheels though. i got 4 for 80 at a jy, but they were for a grand am. not exactly a rare car. or a subaru.
  12. at least you guys can find brake pads. this town's got nothin.
  13. the timing hole plug was gone when i bought my ea81 hatch and some pine needles and leaves fell in there, i noticed when i took the auto and turned it into a 4 spd.
  14. the adjuster screw on one of my back brakes was stuck, i soaked it with lps 2 and some "silicone dry" stuff... cleaned up the threads with a wire brush and worked at it with a wrench, eventually it loosened.
  15. where i live, we have a long stretch of highway with the speed limit of 110 km/h, hardly anyone drives it. people go 130, 140, 150. my hatch has gotten up to 150, got kinda scared at that point.
  16. an islander? cool, there's a few of us on this board apparently. maybe it was one of your rack seals i have no clue, most seals on my car are round. well, not completely square anyways.
  17. they exist, trust me on that one. i own a 2wd sube.
  18. put the VIN thru a decoder. some websites have them. i can't really tell you much else about a justy, never owned one.
  19. id stick with the white, i like the wagon wheels. hard to find em around here though. all i can find are dirty rusty regular wheels with plants growing in them. the junkyard was crushing their subie rims because nobody bought any in years, except me of course.
  20. that's gotta be one of the coolest things ive ever seen. sixteen grand is a bit pricey though, but still, one mile since new.
