  1. possibly meet somewhere in the middle and go for a cruise... what do you got to wheel down there? working on my axles agian today. but shea ready thatswhatshesaid- maybe get ahold of him today.
  2. Yes the cups are what breaking ovaling kind of, and cracked in two/three places. the bearings are gone too after this usually. well like first post says, ive swapped out the welded diff for the one you gave with the car... So i could run 4wd w/out throwing the stub in when needed... Mite put it back in, (welded diff.) Bought two new axles from napa- too much. first they gave me the wrong axles, they were too long. weird. got the right ones and they slid right in. I forgot that they were the hybrid axles... occured to me yesterday when i was reading GDs post about how to do that... Oops, im retarded. So, i have extras ea82 axles laying around, going to swap the cups out. Both ends right? or just the outside one? not real clear on that. The trail i was on isnt that gnarly either, they are just overextending and popping, felt it everytime theyve broke... Would cranking up the torsion bar bring my diff up so the axle stubs on the diff are higher then the stubs on the hub/brakes? Would my handling be any different?
  3. My ea81 wagon keeps breaking rear axles... been researching and found that GD posted a thread that he swaps on the ea82 cups onto the outer?, brake/tire side of the ea81 axles, so when they are extended all the way it dont snap. Going to try this, think the axles that were with the car when i bought it were this way.... hmm. also that if my torsion bar is bad/not cranked up all the way would make a difference. Going to try messing with that, have an extra torsion bar, myabe just swap it out... Thanks for reading, pleasr reply with any info/exp you have on this subject. Have welded diff but took it out to see if that was the problem, not it. If i fix it i mite put the welded diff back in. Do I swap both ends of the cups or just the brake/tire side? THanks again. Setup is ea81, 1982 gl waon, 6'', 6 lug, 28'' s.s. on 14 chevy rims, 5sp mt d/r, rear disc, front kyb gr2, factory brush guard/winch mount.
  4. Just got new struts. kyb gr2. finally got here... going to go put them on! How hard is it to make a srping compressor? goin to just do that instead of renting one... Got new exhaust gaskets to put on, the pass side blew out the other day, havnt drove her since put the bumper on. Going to sandblast and paint it too. Been driving the 88 gl10, think its getting ready to take a poo. . .:-\ getting weak. -twitch- ive had this bumper for years. just found something cool enough to put it on.
  5. Got the camber fixed on the wagon... Already wore out a brand new set of cooper discoverers. Strut blocks from monstaru, made by Bill. Very nice blocks. Drilled my front hubs to 6 lug, now have 4 and 6 lug hubs, pugs/chevy/yota rim options. Swampers coming soon. Front brush guard off stock ea71/81? its the one with a winch mount! Going to swap out the rear diff for e reg diff, not a welded one. Put up a pic this afternoon. Waiting for my brother to finish building my hi comp ea81!!
  6. what shop did you take them to? DG machine is in Auburn, highly recommend them, they work with delta qutie a bit too... Right down the street. If your heads are too cracked hit the jy for a donor car thats wrecked in the rear or something obvious besides motor failure. I have 100k on a j/y motor, car was wrecked in the rear... Almost time to go thru it. Taking the motor out is the best option, if you have the time and space/tools to do the job. need a few special tools, or can get around them, clutch aignment, hoist/stand, clean area. Watch the studs when you torque the heads down, seen people strip out those, not what you want. Good luck.
  7. Well... Got a new to me soob. monstarus 83 gl wagon. Done a few small things and some that were needed. Oil/filter change, halogen blue headlights. Had a rear bumper, big steel plate with hitch. going to take the ends off the stock bumper and put on the corners. the exhaust was hanging down and had a huge glass pack on it, got two new ones 25'' cherry bombs, and cut up the other exhaust and what i had around to make duals... sounds good, breathes real good, maybe too much? just got new front rotors and pads, going to do today. working on a different roof rack. Looking for tires coming up. Pics coming up when i get the tires and rims on, and when my motor comes! Soon. Shes in good hands Brian...
  8. Howdy! This is Gabe. Please give me a call when you can. I'd like to bring the Soob over on Friday night. 509-668-4492

    Thanks!

  9. ill be there with my hatch... maybe the gl10 too. ya boy! cant wiat. but havta. see you all soon!
  10. already have NEW pistons, my brothers doing all the work as hes a machinist at a well known shop... and its free, except for parts. new everything basically, water, oil pump, seal kit, completely re did heads, looking for aftermarket rockers? know of any... talking with delta about cams. hopefully abotu a month or so and she'll be running. pics soon, i need to build or find rear strut extensions for the shocks or something, and the steering shaft. thats it..... any ideas for the build would be cool, i have an 02 ej20t in my 90 legacy wagon, but dont want to put a turbo in a lifted hatch... idk
  11. the car ran ok, had some issues- the problem wasnt the intake, well partially. the motor pretty much self destructed... threw a rod out the top of the block... (think ive said this). there were problems on the previous motor in it- power steering pump bracket loose and the mount was all messed up, the p/s lines wore a hole where they rubbed each other for so long, (fixed).
  12. in conclusion my car already had the XT motor in the car. previous owner did the swap before had the car. glad I grabbed an XT motor, used an 85 RX sedan intake thats in the pullnsave. good car out there. it runs way better, no lifter tick at all!!!!!! pulls smoothly thru all gears, and is likely the best soob motor ive heard, and not cause its mine... pics soon.
  13. thats the norm on ea82Ts from what ive seen on mine and my couple soob buds have... IHI VF7. they make a rebuild kit for it, bushings all that. i believe. they around if you look in the right places... as in the previous post turbos are good to have lying around.
  14. well you should give me a call... i can get the complete oil pump kit, mickey mouse o-ring and one other single o-ring. i think the pump just mounts directly onto the block, no gasket there... could be wrong. also i definately have a clutch alignment tool you could borrow- as long as i get it back. give a call man.... im willing to help just have to let me know when and where.
  15. dude give me a call later tonite, 5 ish. i should be done with my friends hatch and will look at yours if you dont care... wouldnt hurt. and yes i ahve changed many axles/cvs. roger 509 671 3439
