  1. when i first got my hatch i had a jumpy tach. thought it was the alt, but i was wrong. a new dist did the trick.
  2. well that's pretty cool. someone here has got to try the rx7 motor into sube swap.
  3. uhoh. time to get a motor from RAM performance engines
  4. I did the VCG's on my ea81 in a half an hour. Still leaks from the pan though, but not much. They leaked real good, in an hour of being parked on level ground there were 2 spots of oil the size of oreos underneath them. Does it leak anywhere else? Check the pan, oil pump, crank, cam sprockets, everywhere on the front for leaks.
  5. haha. i took my 2wd hatch wheelin and i found a fair sized log shoved up in the linkage, thought i broke something when i couldn't take the car out of D.
  6. if you have an ea71 or 81, no amount of tricks to fix the HLA's will work, simply because those engines lack them. If you have the tick of death, try resealing your oil pump. I did that but the tick of death remains. I think I'm going to have to rebuild/clean/replace lifters and a valve job. I think noisy lifters are just a common plague for the earlier subes. If you have lightish brown milkshake oil, new headgasket time.
  7. AFAIK there is a lip that the seal slips over to keep it from coming back out again. Maybe that's the metal strip you're talking about. I can't really help you with that bearing issue though, not much knowledge on ea82 innards. Do you still use your A/C? Mine quit, so I ditched the whole thing. Cleaned up the engine bay a bit.
  8. i know of a man who used the doors from a gl 10 as well as the console switches for his brat. too bad the windows are the only thing that work on that peice of crap.
  9. it's very likely that your bearings are going out. mine on my 88 hatch did the same, humming thru turns.
  10. never found anything at a j/y, but i found a hundred dollar bill lying on the sidewalk once.
  11. it's just a little sideways. it's still good.
  12. that really sucks. sorry to hear about that. my sube got hit in a parking lot, causing about 1500 in damage to the front end. icbc f'ed me around a bit and i had to get it appraised. had them convinced that the car was worth 2500. they gave me 1000 and i kept my old car. found a hood the same colour and got the damage fixed for 200. the moral of this story is, convince them that the wagon's worth more than it actually is.
  13. hello and welcome. good luck in finding a justy. i don't see all that many around my neck of the woods.
  14. thirded. similar story happened to my cousin's truck.
  15. thanks people, i'll take a gander at it in the morning, unless the rain doesn't stop.
  16. once i get the brat running, to quadra i go. looks great, worthy of a dancing banana.
  17. el cheapo 15 buck guage. if it turns out to be crap, no big loss.
  18. recently i bought an oil pressure guage from napa, and have made it so far as to installing the pressure line on the oil pump. the only question is, where do i plug the line into? the guage came with a few brass adaptors for different ports, none of which look like they go anywhere. do i take the sender off and run the line thru there? i'm racking my brain. also, searching the forum yielded nothing. thanks for any tips you guys may have. merry christmas too. by the way, ea81.
  19. pulling the o.g. axles from my hatch when i bought it, all boots blown away, grease and dirt and crap on everything...was washing my hands for a week.
  20. i changed the drive belt on my ea81, so never say never. the ea81's are dang easy to work on though. most all are carb'd.
  21. looks great. i want an intake like yours.
  22. mine's worth 900 according to ICBC. it runs and drives too.
